“Despite the deep pain and trauma, we endured, KOWED has given us hope and a chance to rebuild our lives.” – Muhammed Ali Abdallah

Muhammed Ali Abdallah, a Sudanese refugee in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, fled the war in Khartoum with his family. The conflict left deep scars his wife was raped, became pregnant, and later gave birth to triplets. One baby tragically passed away, while severe trauma and depression left her unable to care for the children. With a serious back injury limiting his own ability to work, Muhammed struggled alone to provide for his family, pushing their 13-year-old son into adult responsibilities. Basic needs like food, healthcare, and hygiene remained a daily challenge.

During a support visit, Kandaakiat Organization for Women Empowerment and Development (KOWED) identified the family’s extreme vulnerability. Muhammed was enrolled in the Global Whole Being Sustainable Agriculture Program through crop farming and home gardening. The family also received an immediate relief package including 50kg flour, 25kg beans, 10kg rice, cooking oil, milk powder, soap, and clothing.

This timely intervention has stabilized the household, reduced pressure on Muhammed, and restored dignity and hope as the family begins their healing journey. We are grateful to our partners for enabling such holistic support that transforms lives.
